De Toren Z 2013 selected as Wine-of-the-Month-Club’s Best Bordeaux Blend of the Year
Wine-of-the-Month-Club’s honorary title of ‘Best Bordeaux Blend of the Year’ was awarded to our treasured De Toren Z 2013. A selection of over a hundred wines per category was tasted blind and the popular De Toren Z was announced the trophy winner of its category at the Annual Winemakers’ Awards this month.

SAWI rates De Toren Fusion V as Best Bordeaux Style Red Wine in South Africa
This year the South African Wine Index (SAWI) rated De Toren Fusion V as the best Bordeaux Style Blend in South Africa. Our renowned Bordeaux-style blends, De Toren Fusion V and De Toren Z were both awarded Platinum Status. Further great news is De Toren Private Cellar’s ranking as one of the Top 10 Red Wine Producers in South Africa as announced by SAWI.

Wine Spectator USA awards De Toren Fusion V 2013 with 92 Points
Once again, the esteemed magazine, i.e. Wine Spectator, rated our Fusion V very highly, awarding the De Toren Fusion V 2013 a stellar 92 Points. James Molesworth shares his thoughts on the Fusion V 2013: “This has an old-school core of steeped currant, blackberry and plum fruit intertwined with notes of charcoal, tobacco and cedar. Shows some lovely polish with enticing black tea and warm cocoa details filling in throughout. Well done. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.”

De Toren Book XVII shows consistency with Wine Cellar Annual Luxury Red Wine Taste-Off
Book XVII 2013 showed remarkable consistency at the annual ‘Luxury Red Wine Taste-Off’ hosted by Wine Cellar and was voted one of the top 3 most luxurious wines in South Africa.
Only one wine per producer is entered in this annual tasting line-up and with The Black Lion being awarded 3rd place in last year’s tasting, it could unfortunately not be entered in this year’s competition.
