Our Cellar Master, Charles Williams is of the opinion that the phenomenal 2017 vintage of this Right Bank Bordeaux styled blend culminated from vines that were perfectly balanced and restrained and boasted with the smallest, most concentrated berries. Hence, it could easily be compared to some of our most successful vintages in the history of De Toren!
Crafted from the ocean-facing vineyards, where the vines are cooled by the south westerly, summer sea breeze, this Merlot-dominated blend showcases beautiful aromas of luscious red fruits with a soft, seemly integration of oak. Ultimately delivering perfume, sophistication and power.
The favourable weather conditions of the season once again contributed to making the 2017 vintage one of the finest collector’s vintages yet. Siobhan Thompson, Chief Executive at Wines of South Africa, has described the 2017 vintage as ‘one of the best seen in several years, especially in terms of quality’.
