This is an annual event where the elite, from around the globe, gathers – the leading businessmen and distinguished entrepreneurs, the wine aficionados and celebrities, all with one goal in mind, to raise money for a good cause. The mandate of these funds raised at the prestigious The Cape Wine Auction is to support education in the winelands of South Africa.

This year’s event was no exception to the rule. On the weekend of 10 – 11 February, a record-breaking, grand total of R22.3 million was raised at the auction, held in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley.

De Toren, founding member and proud ambassador of this prestigious celebration, raised a stellar R800 000 this year with our spectacular auction lot. Our esteemed lot, in association with The World Residences at Sea, gives two people, i.e. the lot owner, Mr Paul Harris and a partner, the exclusive opportunity to collect some of our renowned range’s rarest, most sought-after wines, as well as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity aboard the most deluxe private residential ship on the planet.

The lot, in summary consisted of the maiden vintages of De Toren’s esteemed range of wines, including, Book XVII 2010, The Black Lion 2012, De Toren Fusion V 1999 and De Toren Z 2004. This is in addition to the exclusive opportunity for 2 guests, to spend 7 memorable nights on board The World Residences at Sea, in a plush one bedroom residence, including all meals, beverages, as well as the on-board leisure activities, the gratuities and all port charges.
