Our estate walls have recently been adorned with the signature large artworks of MIES, one of South Africa’s young and upcoming contemporary artists, and it looks quite the jazz. Her work enlivens spaces with unique and bold use of colour and loose brush strokes. Landscapes were a recent addition to her collection and we’ve collaborated to showcase these works on the estate.
There are a few important values that keep her on the edge of her seat to continuously innovate and evolve her work, a quality we admire. She believes that it’s important to keep questioning whether one remains skilful at their craft, it shows a certain level of investment in one’s work. She also believes that intention overrides talent and that spending time to create something that leaves one standing in wonder and delight is the place she wants to be in.
