The ancient Roman philosopher, Pliny the Elder, believed that in different areas of the vineyard, the wine will grow differently and give different results. This is called terroir and is true of the unique expression of the Book XVII 2014 vintage, to be released in April 2016.

The carefully handpicked grapes have enhanced the concentrated berries that translate to this vintage’s expressive wine. The blend releases an aroma of dark berries underlined with delicate red fruit and hints of vanilla, perfectly paired with a succulent cut of flavorsome meat to complement the full bodied taste of the wine.

The very good low crop yields smaller berries packed full of flavor and juicy tannins. The moderate temperatures of this vintage allowed magnificent phenolic ripening and enabled the wine to impress with opulent yet elegant tannin structures. This is a small vintage with less than 1,150 bottles produced. We believe that this masterpiece can last 25 years with careful cellaring and will make a unique gift, available for purchase only at De Toren farm and selected restaurants.
