Our new Manor House is designed to showcase five uniquely South African aspects of the estate, thanks to the expertise of our architectural and décor partners alongside our internal team. The final product is a spectacular marriage of African and Dutch influences and an unmitigated ode to the power of terroir are what characterise the newly renovated Manor House at De Toren Private Cellar.
The existing property on the estate underwent a complete transformation, whilst staying true to its Cape Dutch heritage, to create a beautifully designed contemporary space that warmly welcomes wine lovers.

The Manor House was renovated with a nod to traditional Cape Dutch architecture – it is after all, situated in Stellenbosch – yet this historical style has been elevated with contemporary additions. Additionally, we wanted the interiors to have an African aesthetic, to reflect the beauty of the Cape’s unique Fynbos Biome, and echo the magic of the estate’s natural surroundings. Now, the Manor House sits elegantly surrounded by perfectly manicured gardens and shaded by trees. Upon first glance, the Cape Dutch influences are clear, however, closer inspection reveals a more modern take on the traditional style.
The interior unveils this meeting of two worlds in more intricate detail, the same way our wines are the perfect fusion of old world and new world. The heritage and roots are remembered in traditional textures, materials and colours that have been used in contemporary styles and designs.
A sense of grandeur exists in the De Toren Tasting Lounge thanks to the large fireplace, wood-burning stove and dramatic chandelier. The adjacent De Toren Wine bar continues the design story of heritage meets modernity. The idea behind this area was to create a sense of welcoming comfort for our guests.
Two wide verandas, at front and back respectively, are home to comfortable seating and offer our guests the chance to enjoy either an ocean-facing panorama or a more intimate view of the splash pool, water feature and walled garden.
The ground-floor also features a world-class boardroom equipped with the latest technology and fitted with luxury finishes. This grand space will soon be available for booking of private functions, board meetings and/ or team breakaways. And why not end off a hard working day with a glass of fine wine? It’s what we here at De Toren call work-life balance.

No matter where you choose to savour our bespoke wines you will be spoilt for choice in terms of memorable vistas that showcase some of Mother Nature’s best work. Our new tasting lounge and outdoor areas are designed to cater for walk-in guests, so no need for prior booking is necessary.
As for our true wine aficionados, booking a private cellar tour hosted by one of our esteemed senior winemaking team members is a must. This experience incorporates an in-depth tasting of our carefully crafted world-class wines in the ambience of our underground tasting room. Guests should allow about 90 minutes to relish every sip and absorb every anecdote. Our De Toren team members do love a good story!

Located on our beautiful terrace with a majestic view over our stunning swimming pool, our brand-new 12-14 seater boardroom is ideal for both formal or informal meetings and catch-ups with your clients and/ or colleagues.
